Frequently Asked Questions

What does “tatte” mean?

Tatte — which rhymes with “latte” — is a Hebrew nickname for “grandmother.” Growing up in the kibbutz in Israel, with a family that loved baking, our founder Tzurit Or wanted to build the same community and sense of belonging that she always found through baking alongside her mother. While thinking of a logo for the very first farmer’s market stand where Tzurit sold her now infamous cookie boxes, her then-18-month-old daughter happened to point to a picture of her grandmother and said, “Tatte, Tatte!” From there, Tatte was born and the rest is delicious history.
